A day in the life of a Product Manager

Meet the team - Rahul Aggarwal tells us about Life at IF and beyond

We are a down-to-earth bunch of payment nerds building a platform that aims to increase the number of fintechs launched yearly. Our team comprises numerous backgrounds and talents, and our company values guide everything we do.

Rahul is our technical integrations go-to person. With 10+ years of hands-on experience in product management, Rahul translates business requirements into technical specifications, bringing new features to life in an Agile environment/methodology. Rahul is a self-starter and an inspiring team player. He joined Integrated Finance in December 2021 and has been instrumental in developing and delivering our integrations.

What made you join Integrated Finance?

As per Angela Strange at VC firm Andreessen Horowitz: “...every company will be a fintech company." And as I witnessed embedded finance streamline financial workflows and banking processes, reducing barriers to entry - I was keen to join the world of Fintech.

While there were many solutions in the market, I wanted to join an innovative industry player with a unique USP. Integrated Finance (IF) offers an agnostic, full-stack, cloud-native platform that addresses the urgent and unmet needs of today’s fintechs. I was extremely excited about taking part in its mission.

Since joining, we have been extending the capabilities of our technology, integrations, and partnerships to the extent that today we are ready to become a driving force for significant disruption in the Fintech-as-a-Service space.

Favourite 3 things about working at Integrated Finance?

I believe I am a part of something special. The culture, team, growth and learning opportunities are my favourite 3 things about working at IF.

We are encouraged to culturally challenge the status quo, experiment and pursue new ideas. It is refreshing to be working closely with our founders, who are wholly committed to providing us with as many learning opportunities as possible. This means an unprecedented look into the realities of entrepreneurship coupled with a real and in-depth understanding of what it takes to scale a business - from hiring staff to establishing a brand identity.

Lastly, the startup spirit of our business spreads positive energy and excitement among us all. It is a motivating work environment that I particularly enjoy being part of.

Describe a typical day in the life of a Technical Product Manager

A day in the life of a Product Manager is quite hectic. The job requires you to be constantly on the move, keeping abreast of any business and project developments in virtually real-time.
My day is broken down into 4 essential parts:

  1. Email and organisation - taking stock of status updates and follow-up communications
  2. Discussion - resolving issues, helping and collaborating with all stakeholders
  3. Creative work - defining requirements and validating customers’ needs, ensuring the solutions we develop address gaps and challenges
  4. Planning - high level purview and outcomes

Name 3 things you can’t imagine living without?

  1. Health and happiness
  2. Freedom and passion
  3. Family and loved ones

What always makes you laugh without fail?

When my lovely wife Amrita tries out new recipes at home, I join the fun as the experiment subject 😄

What’s your favourite holiday destination?

I’ve been to many countries in the past, an extensive list on paper. My next planned destination is Vancouver, Canada, later this year.

But, by far, my favourite holiday destination is America’s playground, AKA Sin City - Las Vegas! In Vegas, you can let your hair down, free of judgement. Hence the motto “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas.” Everything is possible in Vegas. Fancy playing slots in CVS after picking up a few items? You got it. Feel like walking around the strip in a bikini top, daisy dukes and bedroom slippers? No one will bat an eyelash.

Plus, Vegas is the Mecca of entertainment, offering anything from concerts, attractions, helicopter trips and everything in between.

Some of my favourite spots are the zip-line from the top of the Rio hotel, riding the High Roller, one of the largest Ferris wheels in the world, and the Grand Canyon.
